Right now there are three guarantees in life: death, taxes and Jered Weaver winning. Weaver is 6-0 with a 0.99 ERA in six starts, including 4-0 with a 1.24 ERA on the road. One of those road victories came in Tampa Bay on April 5, when Weaver gave up a run on three hits in 6 2/3 innings, prevailed 5-3. Since that start, Weaver has posted the following numbers: one run in 7 2/3 innings with 15 strikeouts (3-1 win over Toronto); two earned runs on four hits in seven innings (4-3 win at Chicago); one run on six hits with eight strikeouts in a complete-game (4-1 win at Texas); complete-game 5-0 shutout of Oakland, allowing seven hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts.

In fact, get this: Weaver has more strikeouts (49 in 45 2/3 innings) then he does combined runs (6), hits (26) and walks (10) allowed! Simply put, Weaver was the best pitcher in baseball over the first month of the season, and L.A. cashed in all six of his gems. Not only that, but with his victory over the Rays on April 5, Weaver is now 4-1 with a 2.27 ERA in six career starts against Tampa Bay, which is batting .191 all-time against the right-hander. L.A. is 5-1 in those six games, including 4-0 in Tampa.
Finally, despite Saturday's 2-1, 10-inning loss the Halos have been terrific on the road this year at 9-5 (winning eight of the last 10); they've won four of their last five games against the Rays (all in Tampa); and they're 60-30 in the last 90 meetings with the Rays. And today the Angels are set to face rookie right-hander Alex Cobb, who is scheduled to make his big-league debut.
